Greece Transnational Project Meeting

Empowering Youth Workers for a Better Integration of Migrants and Refugees

The Greece Transnational Project Meeting, held on May 23-24, 2023, in Athens, aimed to advance the project “Empowering Youth Workers for a Better Integration of Migrants and Refugees.” The meeting began with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Şahin, who outlined the key topics and goals of the project, including developing innovative training curricula and materials to enhance intercultural dialogue, combat discrimination, and promote social inclusion for migrants and refugees.

Key discussions included the project timeline, with important milestones such as report editing by January 15, curriculum dissemination by the end of January, and the establishment of a Learning Management System (LMS) in collaboration with a service provider. The team also addressed the need to overcome language barriers through translation and planned to research affordable venues for training sessions in Turkey.

Participants planned national dissemination seminars to share the project’s intellectual outputs with a broader audience. Details such as dates, locations, and target audiences for these seminars were discussed. The creation of a new drive folder and WhatsApp group was decided to facilitate communication and collaboration among partners. Additionally, a newsletter to be developed by the hosting partner and shared on partner websites was planned.

Action items were clearly defined, including finalizing and reviewing the training curriculum, addressing language barriers, setting up the LMS, and organizing dissemination activities. The meeting concluded with a commitment to meet established deadlines and objectives, ensuring the project’s goals are effectively achieved.
